being silly before school!

Got up pretty easy this morning.

Ate cereal.

And anxious to get dressed.

They were a little worried about where to go once at school.

So, I walked them into school and waited with them

for instructions from the principal.

Here we go.....
Last year the kids' room was the closest to the front door.

I kid you not, this year it is the farthest!!

Lindy is ready to start her day!

Molly loves her desk!

Their first day went very well.

It was learn the rules day.

They both really like their teacher, Mrs. Mobley.

Time to sit back and listen to the stories!! :)

On Monday March 21,

Molly and three of her friends from her

reading group were invited to participate in a

reading lesson for the

school board.

So we got new clothes on

and away we went.

The kids did a great job.

And it's safe to say we there were some proud parents there too!!

Kindergarten Her We Come

Tuesday August 17 was meet the teacher day.

I was sad because I could not go with them because I started a new job today (more in that later).

So daddy took them. They were excited to meet

Mrs. Smith and see their school.

They also had to take their school supplies.

So, with their backpacks full and a sack full of goodies, they were off.

Daddy did take some pictures....

but not a one of Mrs. Smith.

They told me they liked their classroom.

The first day of Kindergarten!!

I had been talking about a new routine for our mornings for a few days.

The girls were quick to go to bed the night before, a good sign that our morning would be more pleasant.

Sure enough they woke before the alarm and Lindy greeted me eagerly with "how about our routine mommy".

So, first we have breakfast.

Most of the time it will be cereal.

Don't forget the vitamin!

Then they brush their pearly whites.

Wash faces then get dressed and fix hair.

Then if there is time left, then they can turn on the TV.

But this morning we sat on the couch and read the book from Mrs. Smith.

The Kissing hand is a great little story about a raccoon going to kindergarten for the first time.

They are going to South School. The hallways

are all painted with cartoons. They love them.

We made our way to the gym.

Squeezed in with all the other kindergarten students and waited for the principle to speak.

Then all the students went to their classrooms.

Lindy & Molly found their desks.

Here is where we left them that first day.

I think there is 19 kids in their class.

There were no tears by the way from kids or mommy.

Second day of school.

The girls could not wait to get home.

There was something in the backpacks....

"You'll see mommy"

They made raccoon masks after reading the Kissing Hand book.

With only two days in they are doing well.

The only complaint is that it is hot.

The classroom is air conditioned, but nowhere else.

And they liked lunch better today than yesterday.

Of course they'd like to take their lunch everyday, but I really think they will eat pretty good at school. So we'll just play it by ear.

So, look out South School, the Rafferty girls have arrived!!

Week Of The Young Child

This week has been "the week of the young child" in our town. So each day at school they girls had special themes for the day. Like, Monday was favorite t-shirt day (sorry no picture).

Tuesday was crazy hat day. The girls got these hats from Aunt Donna for Christmas. They were perfect!

Wednesday was crazy hair day. We went wild.

Daddy even got in on the fun! He takes them to school every morning and he wanted crazy hair too.

Thursday was crazy sock day.

I fixed them up some faces and bells!

A field trip planned for tomorrow. They are looking forward to it because they get to take a lunch!

Petting Zoo

On the last day of school before Spring break the high school sponsored a petting zoo for the little kids. So after I picked them up from school I took the girls there. I thought it would be a rinky dink thing but I was surprised. There were several animal there and lots of kids. Molly & Lindy were excited to go.

First stop was this pig. Of course Lindy wouldn't even stand by the cage! Molly touched the pig!

Once we got into the building Lindy decided my leg was her friend. It was pretty loud and there was dogs, big dogs, everywhere. She does not like dogs.

The only things she would pet was this rabbit and a cat. Oh, and I convinced her to touch a small chicken too.

Here is this little chicken. Molly said it was soft. All Lindy was worried about was it's wings.

This goat was Molly's favorite animal. She spent a lot of time tyring to get it to eat some hay. It loved being scratched on its head. It was very tame.

Check out the baby duck. Molly was a brave girl and pet nearly every animal today, even a big Labrador dog. Lindy, on the other hand, was okay just standing back and watching.

There was even a tom turkey strutting around. Molly asked to pet it, so the girls picked him up. Lindy did not like the "big chicken" one bit!!

Valentines Day- Thursday, Friday & Today

Molly got a hair cut on Wednesday. It is now up to her shoulder blades. Several inches shorter.
Wednesday morning the girls made out their Valentines for the school party.

Lindy was worried there wouldn't be any suckers left over!


Thursday morning was the Pre K Valentine Party. I took brownies and was asked to stay and help out in the room.

Here Lindy is painting her big lips on the board.

Molly's turn. They had a great time exchanging valentines with their friends and eating the goodies.

Thursday evening the pre K hosted a "stone soup" supper for the families. The girls had taken a can of green beans to school to make the soup with. Here they are trying it out. Of course they ate the dessert first.

This is Erica, a classmate. She's a sweetie!

After supper, they played and danced. Lots of fun for the kids.

Friday the girls did not have school, so we planned a play date with the JAM (just Asia moms) Group at the mall. We had lots of things planned. A birthday party for Kinsley, a Valentines Party, a Carousal ride and play area fun.

This is Kinsley and mom Amy. Kinsley brought valentines cookies for everyone. We sang happy birthday to her and she got presents. She will turn 4 on the 17th.

Lindy has a card from the carousal for her birthday. She could ride with 9 guests for free. So all the girls enjoyed this. Above is Emma.

Our Valentines Day started this morning with pancakes (made with white chocolate chips and pecans). We played around the house most of the morning. Then finished the day with a great meal at Applebee's.

Molly got a Valentine from classmate Jasper for a Applebee's dessert. She got strawberry. Yummy!

And Lindy got hot fudge. Thank you Jasper.
