Thankful Thursday

The Holy Alphabet

Although things are not perfect
Because of trial or pain
Continue in thanksgiving
Do not begin to blame
Even when the times are hard
Fierce winds are bound to blow
God is forever able
Hold on to what you know
Imagine life without His love
Joy would cease to be
Keep thanking Him for all the things
Love imparts to thee
Move out of "Camp Complaining"
No weapon that is known
On earth can yield the power
Praise can do alone
Quit looking at the future
Redeem the time at hand
Start every day with worship
To "thank" is a command
Until we see Him coming
Victorious in the sky
We'll run the race with gratitude
Xalting God most high
Yes, there'll be good times and yes some will be bad, but...
Z ion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!
Thankful Thursday once again. The weeks fly by. It has been a wonderful week. The weather is pleasant, even though we have had rain almost every day. We have yet to turn on the air conditioner and I am thankful for that.
I am thankful for graduations. Our nephew, Ross, graduated from college this week. He is seeking employment in law enforcement. This should be a great field for him as he has many years experience with his duties in the National Guard. We are praying he finds something soon.
Also another nephew, Luke, is graduating from High School. He plans to go to the Jr college here in town and study agriculture. His family business is farming, so he will continue that for his future. We am very proud of them.
I am thankful for our new refrigerate. Our old one finally quit us a few weeks ago. I am thankful the Lord provided the funds just when we needed them most.
I am thankful for ceiling fans. They help keep the house cool.
I am thankful that my children got to know my parents dog before he died. (more on this later). Spot helped the girls in overcoming their fear of dogs. They have a long way to go, but he sure helped. We will miss him.

Thankful Thursday

Psalms 37:4
Take delight in the Lord,
and he will grant you your heart's request.

I have been MIA from Thankful Thursday for some time now. But never the less I have been thankful anyway. I always thank the Lord for my family. I can't imagine life without them.

I'm thankful that my children love nature and life in general. They find joy in everything they do. Even brushing their teeth. Here they are trying to catch and pet a toad.

I am thankful for the little things that most adults take for granted. Like weeds! To my kids they are great fun.

I am thankful for this beautiful face.

And swings!
God has granted my heart's request! I have wanted children for forever.... and look what I got!!

Thankful Thursday

Psalm 37:5

Commit to the Lord your way;

trust in him,

and he will act.

I am thankful for curious children who love to learn.

I am thankful for wonderful springtime smells. Like this tulip tree in the neighbors yard.

I am thankful for the beautiful colors that God creates in the spring.

I am very thankful that we can fly the flag in America. And for the troops fighting the war so we can live safely in America. May God protect each any every soldier and bring them home soon.

Thankful Thursday

Proverbs 21:3
To do what is right and just is more
acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.
It seems Thankful Thursday rolls around quickly every week. Life with two 4 year olds is rather hectic at times. We get into our daily routines of living and time passes at the blink of our eye. Dave & I make sacrifices to do what is right by our children. We are fortunate that I am able to be a stay at home mom while Molly & Lindy are small. We do without some of life's luxuries, but we couldn't be happier. We are teaching our children to love the Lord as we do and that is no sacrifice at all.
I am thankful:
1. That spring is around the corner. Grass is finding it's color and trees are beginning to show life. Flowers are blooming and birds are singing.
2. That I can begin hanging our laundry outside to dry. I love the fresh clean smell.
3. That my kids love being outside. We all need some sunshine.
4. That Molly & Lindy make every day new and exciting for us. They bring so much love and laughter to our home.
5. for recycling. Yes, I am. That we do our part so that our future grandchildren & great grandkids will have a cleaner Earth. It is my hope that everyone finds a way to recycle something.

Thankful Thursday

Luke 6:21
Blessed are you who are now hungry,
for now you are satisfied.
When you forgive your enemy
When you feed the hungry
When you defend the weak
You believe in the resurrection.
When you have the courage to marry
When you welcome the newly born child
When yo build your home
You believe in the resurrection.
When you wake at peace in the morning
When you sing to the rising sun
When you go to work with joy
You believe in the resurrection.
Carlo Carretto
Today I'm thankful for:
1. My family. Without them I'd be empty. My heart is full of love and joy.
2. For our health, whether it be good or bad. We are among the living and I see that as a blessing. Twice in one week we have went to a funeral. Two co workers have lost their wives this week to cancer. May the Lord bless these families with loving memories and bring them peace.
3. For our home. So many do not have one or are being forced to give up their home. I pray for the homeless, especially in cold weather.
4. For orphanages & foster homes all over the world. And the caregivers who take care of the unwanted children.
5. And for the city park. A place for people can relax and kids can play freely.

Thankful Thursday-Remembering Hayden

Hayden Lloyd Scott
March 5th, 2008. A blessing came from God this day. Bright eyed and beautiful, our great nephew was born. We was welcomed by his big sister, Hallie, his Mommy & Daddy and lots of family.

Life settled into a routine for Hayden and his family. Hayden was making the normal strides and growing like a trooper.

Jump to June 5, 2008. Hayden is 92 days old now and he and Hallie are at the sitters while Mommy & Daddy are working. It's a normal morning and it's time for Hayden's morning nap. He went to sleep forever, the Lord took him home that day. For reasons we may never know Hayden was meant to be a true angel. We miss him terribly and wonder each and everyday what he would be doing if he were still on Earth. Now with his angel wings he watches over us from Heaven. We miss you terribly little man.
Happy Birthday
God's Child On Loan
"I'll lend to you for a little time,
A child of mine," God said,
"For you to love while she lives
And mourn for when she's dead."

"It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you till I call her back,
Take care of her for me?"

"She'll bring her charms to gladden you
And should her stay be brief,
You'll have these precious memories
To comfort you through grief."

"I cannot promise she will stay
Since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn."

"I've looked this world over,
In my search for teachers true.
In the crowds of this great land,
I have selected you."

"Now will you give her all your love
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
To take her back again?"

It seems to me I heard them say,
"Dear Lord, thy will be done.
For all the joys a child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run."

"We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known
Forever grateful stay."

"And should the angels call for her
Much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And try to understand."

Friends and family are gathering this evening at Hayden's finial resting place for a celebration to honor what would have been his first birthday. It will be a happy day and a sad one all in one as we all remember this beautiful boy.
We love you Hayden!
Once again it is Thankful Thursday. This week my heart is heavy with sadness today, but I am still thankful for....
1. the 92 days that Hayden was with us. He brought so much life to his parents, grandparents and big sister. Babies make everyone smile!
2. getting to hold Hayden only a few days before his death. He was such a handsome boy with big cheeks. He reminded me so much of his sister and his Aunt Erin.
3. I am thankful that the Lord is with us and brings comfort in many ways to those who still grieve.
4. the pictures we have of Hayden. I pray they will help Hallie remember her brother as she grows up.
5. cemeteries, grave markers and memorials of loved ones. These things make the surviving feel closer to our departed. Hayden has a beautiful resting place.
Lord, I pray that you will be with all who gather today. Bring sunshine to our sadness. And Lord, bake Hayden a cake please, like I would have done.

Thankful Thursday

A Disciple's Prayer
Loving God and Father,
help us to be people of prayer,
committed to the person and message of Jesus your Son.
Help us to grasp the integrity and beauty
of the truths of our faith and
the transforming power of our grace.
Nourish and strenghten us as people of faith,
disciples of Jesus, committed to the mission of the Church
and eager to share the gospel without restraint.
Let our hearts burn within us
as we catch glimpses of your heart in Jesus,
for through Him, we know your loving plan for us.
We ask this through Jesus the Christ
who lives with you and the Holy Spirit
in one loving Trinity. Amen.

This prayer card was given out at Church this past week. I though it fit well with Lent which began yesterday. What does Lent mean to you?

Today I am thankful for....
1. prayers being answered for my children's good health. May each year bring great results and nice surprises.
2. my "bloggy" friends who inspire me in many ways.
3. cameras. So when my memories start to fade, I can look at them in pictures.
4. restaurants. When I can't cook or don't feel like it.
5. lower gas prices. Now I can get our a visit with friends and family more often.

What are you thankful for?

Thankful Thursday

Psalm 113:3

From the rising sun to the setting sun

is the name of the Lord to be praised.

Having the Lord in our hearts, on our minds and on our tongs all day is what this verse is talking about. For God is always awake and caring for us!

Once again it is Thankful Thursday. I missed entering last week. But I was thankful nevertheless. It seems the weeks roll around quickly.

1. I am thankful that my prayers were answered this week . Our tax return nearly covers a much needed new roof for our home.

2. I am so very thankful for my husbands job. There have been layoffs in the company. I pray it doesn't effect his job and the jobs of my friends. (I worked there 22 years before quitting). And I also pray for those who have lost jobs... may they find new ones soon.

3. I am thankful for my sewing machine. I really enjoy using it to make crafty items and quilts.

4. I am thankful for my ability to decorated cakes. It provides a little extra income for my family. And also for those who order them.

5. And most of all, I all I am so thankful for my two beautiful daughters and husband, who love me no matter what!

Thankful Thursday

1 Corinthians 13:11

When I become man, I put aside childish things.

As I read this passage I think of a child. How children love their toys, food and clothes. The love is so deep that they don't want to share. This is normal for some children. Unfortunately this behavior continues into adulthood for some. I don't believe this is what God wants for us. I also don't think God is necessarily talking about possessions in this verse. I believe He wants us to stand on our own two feet, take charge of our own actions, make good decisions and face our fears. Being someone that God created you to be!

1. Today & every day I am thankful for my parents. They are an inspiration to me and my children. They show us unconditional love and support. They keep providing in many ways, even when they don't have to. We love you!

2. I am thankful for the doctors who were able to make mom's back better. She was bed ridden and now able to be walk and play with her grandchildren again. We are glad you are back mom.

3. I am thankful for the teachers that recognized my reading problem as a young child. They found a way to help me and now I love reading. There is nothing better than a good Christian novel before bedtime. It keeps my sane!

4. I am thankful for our sisters & brothers, their spouses and all the kids. They have supported our adoption journey totally and love our girls unconditionally.

5. And as we celebrate another gotcha day anniversary, I am thankful for the memories. Our trips to China were amazing. The saying goes: "we went on a vacation of a lifetime, and came home with the ultimate souvenir". I find this saying funny, although I don't consider the girls "souvenirs", like a t shirt or coffee mug! I do "claim" them as mine though! My sweet little china dolls!

Thankful Thursday

Ezekiel 34:11
Thus says the Lord God: I myself will look after and tend my sheep.

There are many trustworthy shepherds. For all of us they may be parents, grandparents, teachers, ministers, counselors or doctors. These shepherds guide us along the path of our days on earth. In this verse He assures us that He too will also look after us. All He asks is for you to have faith. He will never abandon us.

1. I am thankful for the beauty God provides in the four seasons of nature. Although winter is not my favorite season, there are many beautiful things to admire.

2. I am thankful for great toys that challenge my children to learn new things.

3. I am thankful for Dr Lopez, our pediatrician, who provides good care for our girls.

4. I am thankful for my dear husband, who works hard (and sometimes long hours) to provide for us. We love you Daddy!

5. Molly says she is thankful for her kitty cat she got for her birthday.

Thankful Thursday

Matthew 24:42
Stay awake!
For you do not know on which
day you Lord will come.
This verse is straight to the point. And it is so true! If you found yourself standing at Heavens Gate today, would you get in? I sure hope we do. I sometimes wonder if I'm following the path as I am suppose to. You know, days when you feel maybe you haven't been the best person you can be. Maybe you've gotten angry for some reason or acted out in one way or another. Yeah, those kind of days when nothing is going right, no time or no sleep.... the list can be endless. When I feel this way I pray for help. When your heart softens and calmness comes over your body, you can feel it.... the peacefulness of Jesus is there! So, stay awake people! Always remember that the Lord could come today! Are you ready?
What am I thankful for this week? It has been a full week here at our house. So many things, big and small. Let's see.....
1. I am thankful for birthdays. Our girls turned four this week. We were able to celebrate with a party on Saturday.
2. I am thankful for cold medicines and thermometers. Without them our we would suffer through the cold and flu season felling miserable. (the kids have been sick all week, even missing school)
3. I am thankful that I can be at home when the girls are sick. Being able to hold them when they don't feel good is priceless to me. Not so much fun to clean up flu messes!
4. I am thankful for telephones and computers. When you are stuck in the house for days on end they help you remember there is life out there!
5. And I am thankful to witness the inauguration of the 44th President of the USA. It was truly a historic day. It is my hope the President Obama will do good things for this country.

Thankful Thursday

Psalm 86:15

But you, O Lord,
are a God merciful and gracious,
slow to anger,
abounding in kindness and fidelity.
My goal this week is to be a better person! To be kinder to others and enjoy life more. Slow down and soak up the wonders of God's blessings. To not fret over situations that I can not change and accept that I have done my best in others. Wouldn't life be more fun that way?

1.Today, I am thanful for inventions that make my kife a little easier. like this bowl with a straw
attached!

2.I am thankful for my children, who always loves me, no matter what. We recieve notes like
this daily. I cheries them.

3. I am thankful for double seated shopping carts! They really make the experience easier. I feel
more like a mother instead of a referee when out shopping.

4. On this bitter cold morning (it was 0* today) I am very thankful for hot water! I cannot
imagine life without hot showers!
5. This week, I am thankful for friends at our bank, who is "fixing" our checking account. The
utility co double charged us on our bill (the biggest ever) this month and really messed it up.
Thank You friends!

Thankful Thursday

Some of my blogger friends have added a twist to their journals. I think it's a great idea, so I'm jumping on board. Every Thursday you list five things you are thankful for. I have decided to also add a short bible verse too. Hope you like it as much as I do, so here goes...
Matthew 8:25-26
They came and woke him, saying,
"Lord, save us! We are perishing!"
He said to them, "Why are you terrified,
O you of little faith?"
I don't think I could make it without my faith. I have to remind myself often to put more trust and faith in the Lord. And when I do, goodness come my way. Weather it be small or big things, I am at the mercy of God. When I look into the big brown eyes of my children, I am reminded of my good fortune. And all things suddenly become small, as they are the biggest blessing of all.
1. I am thankful that my children will eat all sorts of foods. They really enjoy peeling their own clementines.
2. I am thankful that my girls are content with the small things. Give them markers and paper and they are happy.
3. I am thankful to be able to stay home with Molly & Lindy, hopefully until they go to kindergarten.
4. I am thankful for my loving husband, our two daughters, and for our friends and family. I cannot imagine my life without any of these people! I am so blessed.
5. I am thankful, on this cold day, for my warm clothes, house shoes and blankets!
Now, take a few moments and think of those five things you are thankful for.
